Military Families

Sheila Tarr Academy is dedicated to providing support to our military families.
Sheila Tarr Academy has implemented a team to provide support to our military-connected students as they transition to a new school. Our team ensures the interests and academic progress of military students are supported in accordance with the MIC3. As a school, we understand that military youth go through unique circumstances and situations and we want every military family to know we are here to help. This webpage is designed to provide you with easy access links to helpful resources
Nevada is a member of The Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) which provides consistency for transitioning military students and supports consistency for military-connected students as they transfer between school districts and member states. Families can find more information in the MIC3 Guide for Parents and Schools.
Here are some ways we support our military students in transition at Sheila Tarr:
- Student Ambassadors welcome new/military students as they transition to our school.
- April - Military Child Awareness Month. Celebrating our Military families through a series of school-wide events.
- Specialized website postings for additional resources for students and families
- Celebrate Veterans Day with a special spirit day.
- We collaborate with Centennial High School ROTC to help with fundraising at our annual Tarr’nival event.
