Reassessment Policy

Teachers will provide students the opportunity to retake a summative assessment if they score a 69% or lower and/or receive an N, which indicates that the student is not meeting standards. The alternative assessment will be given to students within 10 school days of the first summative assessment that the student did not show they were meeting standards.

○ The alternative summative assessment will be given after the student has been provided reteaching and relearning opportunities. Reteaching and relearning opportunities must occur during the 10 days after the summative score was entered into Infinite Campus.

○ An alternative or abbreviated reassessment tool at the same rigor will be provided to students to show evidence of their learning.

○ The alternative assessment will be given to students during the school day.

○ The most current higher proficiency level of the assessment replaces previous evidence within the Infinite Campus gradebook.

○ Students are pulled into small groups for reteaching by the teacher and their learning progress is monitored through observational and formative assessments.

○ When students redo a summative assessment that utilizes a rubric, students can update the areas where they received low points to increase their overall grade or complete a different version of a summative assessment that covers the same standard(s).

○ In the weekly email to check for missing and late work, the message will also include how the teacher is providing reteaching to students who scored below 70% on a summative.

○ Teachers will provide a minimum of one reassessment of the summative assessment.

● A weekly Parent Link message will be sent to parents on Wednesdays as a reminder of what teachers will be doing to support students who earn a score of 69% or below on summative assessments.

● Students who have met standards (70% or higher) on a summative assessment within the identified Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS) may request a reassessment opportunity. Students and/or parents may request to have their child participate in a reassessment opportunity within 10 school days after the student has completed the initial summative assessment and a grade has been posted in Infinite Campus. This request can be made through email, written letter/note, phone call or ClassDojo message.

○ An alternative reassessment tool at the same rigor will be provided to students to show evidence of their learning.

○ The most current higher proficiency level of the assessment replaces previous evidence within the Infinite Campus gradebook.

○ This reassessment opportunity can be offered before school, after school, or during the school day.

○ Students who have met standards (scoring a 70% or higher) within the identified NVACS can request and participate in one reassessment opportunity per each summative assessment.

○ Summative reassessments must be completed no later than one week before the end of the semester.
